1) How can parents and families best support their student’s growth?

Consistency, encouragement, and presence make the biggest difference. Observe classes when you can, speak with instructors, and help students arrive on time with a clean uniform and positive mindset. When students see your interest, their confidence and motivation soar.

2) How can families contribute to the growth of the Dojo community?

Support the Dojo by attending events and Gradings, sharing our programs with friends, inviting a guest to try a class, or volunteering for occasional functions. Every act of support strengthens our community and helps us deliver world-class training.

3) Can parents suggest events or community activities?

Yes. Bring your ideas forward. Suggestions are discussed with the team, then vetted and approved by Shihan Hayden. Once approved, we begin planning together to ensure alignment with our mission and focus on student development.

4) How can parents stay informed about classes and important updates?

  • Attend our Quarterly Parent Forums for open dialogue and planning.

5) How does the Dojo share information and reminders?

We keep communication simple and effective:

  • Text messages and emails for key reminders and changes
  • In-class announcements before or after training sessions
  • WhatsApp Community for general news and alerts

If you miss something, ask at the front desk—we’ll get you up to speed.

6) Where can I find the class schedule and Dojo calendar?

Use the live schedule in the Student Portal: purpledragonatl.gymdesk.com/schedule. This reflects updates for class times, holidays, Gradings, and special events.

7) How can I purchase uniforms, sparring gear, and books?

Order anytime from the Pro Shop: shop.purpledragonatl.com.

QR codes linking to the Shop, Schedule, and Student Portal are posted on the wall behind the front desk for quick access.

8) When should students receive their materials (uniform, belt, book, etc.)?

Every new student receives the Warrior Starter Bundle, which includes:

  • High-quality embroidered Purple Dragon uniform
  • Belt and official Purple Dragon patches
  • A copy of Flesh & Bone: The Soul of a Don Jitsu Ryu Black Belt Warrior by Grandmaster Don Jacob

If anything is missing, tell an instructor or email senseihayden@purpledragonatl.com and we’ll resolve it promptly.

9) How can students and families prepare for Gradings?

Find criteria, itineraries, and training materials in the Content section of your Student Portal: purpledragonatl.gymdesk.com. Review regularly and ask instructors for clarification during class.

10) How does open scheduling work?

Classes are structured by age and rank, and flexibility is offered when space permits. Always confirm availability by checking the live schedule in the Student Portal before attending a make-up or alternate class.

11) I missed an announcement—how can I stay informed?

We currently send important updates via text messages and email. We’re also enhancing the Student Portal to include an Events & Announcements section so families can easily review updates in one place.

12) Who should I speak with if I have questions or concerns?

Speak with an instructor or staff member before or after class, visit the front desk, or email senseihayden@purpledragonatl.com. For community involvement items, a PAC representative can assist as needed.

13) Are there volunteer or leadership opportunities for families and students?

Yes. Volunteer projects and outreach build leadership, responsibility, and pride. To get involved, stop by the front desk or email senseihayden@purpledragonatl.com.

14) How can I get information about shirts, gear, or special orders?

Most items are available in the Pro Shop. Special edition items (e.g., event shirts) are announced via text, email, WhatsApp, and in-class announcements. Need an exchange or have a size question? See the front desk.

15) How do I make sure my student receives everything promised at sign-up?

Every new student is entitled to the Warrior Starter Bundle. If you haven’t received an item, contact an instructor or email senseihayden@purpledragonatl.com and we’ll take care of it quickly.

16) What improvements are being made for students and families?
